About Toronto Pearson International Airport
Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada began operations in 1939 as Malton Airport. Twenty years later the name was changed to Toronto International Airport. In 1984 the airport was named Lester B. Pearson International Airport after one of the country’s Prime Ministers. The airport had three terminals from 1991 to 2007. Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 remain. Terminal 2 closed in 2007.
Toronto Pearson is approximately 17 miles northwest of Toronto. It is accessible from several major highways. Passengers can take the free LINK train between the airport’s two terminals. The airport’s Sheraton Gateway hotel can be reached from inside Terminal 3.
Airport amenities include a play area for children and free high-speed Internet. Both terminals have interfaith centers. All passengers may use the airport’s five Plaza Premium lounges for a fee. These lounges have computer stations and flat screen televisions. Currency exchange facilities are available in both terminals.
The airport has plenty of places for dining and shopping in both terminals. Passengers can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at Fionn MacCool’s Irish pub.
