Around World War II the McDonnell Aircraft Corporation was building military planes, and continued after merging with Douglas Aircraft Corporation. Today it is the Boeing military division, continuing to build aircraft at Lambert.

The Metrolink light rail line connects St. Louis-Lambert with downtown and Clayton County in Illinois, plus a free terminal shuttle connects with the Bus Port where city buses and Greyhound depart.

There is a Bank plus several ATM machines, a chapel, Internet Wi-Fi service and several shopping venues. A large USO office welcomes military personnel and their families. Between the two terminals are about two-dozen eating and drinking establishments.
