About Rome Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport

Rome Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino AirportFiumicino means little river in Italian, and it is the name of the township outside of Rome in which the Fiumicino Airport is located. It is the largest airport in Italy and is also called the Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport in deference to the great artist-inventor, who created potentially viable drawings of flying machines during the Renaissance. Created in 1961, this airport of exemplary facilities handles a great river of airplanes that serve domestic Italy, Europe and the greater globe.

Architecture
The Fiumicino Airport is built along clean modern lines. Terminal A serves domestic flights. International flights depart from Terminal B, and transatlantic flights leave from Terminal C. In 2012 there will be an expansion of Terminal C, which will add 236,720 square feet. There will be state of the art VIP lounges and meeting rooms.

Hotels
The Hilton Rome Airport is the prestigious airport hotel. In fact, it is the only hotel operating within the perimeters of the airport. The terminals are all easily accessible from the hotel, with a pedestrian walkway connecting the hotel with the airport. The rooms are large and warm, with the Executive Rooms offering wireless Internet, continental breakfasts and drinks in the Executive Lounge.

Ristorantes And Shopping
Quite a number of formal restaurants and rapid food cafes are found in all terminals. The Gran Chef Ristorante offers high caliber cuisine, and the Bar Tazza d'Oro mixes tantalizing libations. There are also over one hundred and thirty shops in the terminals, with terminal C offering duty-free stores.
