About Madison Dane County Regional Airport

Madison Dane County Regional AirportMadison Dane County Regional Airport was originally an army air field dating back to World War II. It hosted various squadrons throughout World War II and the Cold War. It currently is a joint civil-military commercial airport hosting the 115th fighter wing of the Air National Guard. It is serviced by several major airlines, notably Delta, Frontier and United among others.

The airport is located just northeast of the historic city center of Madison, the state capital of Wisconsin. Madison has an outsize number of attractions for a city its size. It is built around and between three lakes, offering many recreation opportunities in the summer and scenic beauty year round.

The airport itself is small enough to be easy to navigate without the hassles of a bigger airport. Security lines are generally not too long. There is only one terminal, small enough to cross from end to end in a matter of a few minutes. The wide avenues in the arrival and departure areas are rarely crowded. Large parking garages accessible from the terminals by skywalks usually have plenty of spaces available.

There are a few restaurants and coffee shops inside the airport. Only one, the Café Ritazza, is located outside security barriers. For those lucky enough to be holding a ticket, the Great Dane restaurant and Pizzaria Uno, specializing in Chicago-style, are also available.
