Airlines Serving Los Angeles International Airport

Due to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) being the third busiest airport in the country, various major airlines run operations on a daily basis. An estimate of around 1,600 aircraft land and take off every 24 hours at LAX. The major airlines include United Airlines/United Express, American Airlines/American Eagle, Southwest Airlines, Delta Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Virgin America, US Airways, AirTran Airways, and Air Canada.

American Airlines operates its west coast hub at the airport along with its subsidiary airline, American Eagle. United Airlines/United Express operates the most departures from LAX on a daily basis, which are around 210. American Airlines/American Eagle operates around 126 per day, and Southwest Airlines about 123 per day.

United Airlines is located in Terminal 7 of the airport. United Airlines provides service to the most destinations. Some of the popular U.S. destinations for this airline include Baltimore, Chicago-O'Hare, Denver, Honolulu, Houston-Intercontinental, Las Vegas, New York-JFK, Orlando, and Washington-Dulles. The airlines' international destinations include Cancun, Sydney, Mexico City, Shanghai-Pudong, London-Heathrow, and Tokyo-Narita.

Terminal 4 is solely for American Airlines with the exception of a daily departure offered by Qantas to Brisbane. American Airlines provides service to the second most destinations, including Austin, Boston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale, Kona, Miami, Nashville, Newark, St. Louis, Toronto-Pearson, and Washington-National.

American Eagle flights run out of a remote terminal that is located near Terminal 8. Shuttle buses to Terminal 2, Terminal 5, and Terminal 6 connect the remote terminal. Its destinations include Albuquerque, El Paso, Houston-Intercontinental, Oklahoma City, Salt Lake City, and San Diego.

Southwest Airlines resides in Terminal 1 of LAX. The destinations offered by the airline include Albuquerque, Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago-Midway, Kansas City, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Phoenix, Reno-Tahoe, Sacramento, San Antonio, and Tucson.

Delta Airlines calls Terminal 5 home. Its destinations include Atlanta, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kahului, Memphis, Miami, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York-JFK, Salt Lake City, Sydney, Tampa, and Tokyo-Haneda.

Alaska Airlines operates the third most destinations, such as Guadalajara, Manzanillo, Portland, Oregon, San Jose del Cabo, Vancouver, and Washington-National. The airline is located in Terminal 6.

Virgin America is in Terminal 3 and its destinations include Boston, Cancun, Dallas/Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale, New York-JFK, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle/Tacoma, and Washington-Dulles.

US Airways is located in Terminal 1, it offers flights to Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Phoenix. AirTran Airways is also situated in Terminal 1, with service to Atlanta.

Air Canada serves the most destinations in Canada, including Calgary, Montreal-Trudeau, Toronto-Pearson, and Vancouver.
