London Heathrow Airport Ground Transportation

Heathrow Airport, located in London, is the city's largest and most popular airport to fly into and out of. Once you arrive, there are many ways that you can get around the airport itself and also ways to get to and from your destination of choice.

One of the most popular travel methods for getting from Heathrow to other areas of England is by taking a bus or coach. The most popular coach service is National Express, and they will take you to locations as nearby as Gatwick Airport or other areas of London to cities throughout England. Heathrow has five terminals, and all of them have pick up and drop off locations for buses. Signs around the airport will direct you to where the buses are, but in terminals 1, 2, and 3 they are at the Central Bus Station, at terminal 4 and 5 they are just outside each terminal building. There are also buses that will take you to the other terminals in the airport.

Another option is to take a taxi. You can arrange to have a taxi meet you in advance, or you can find one on the spot. There are several locations throughout the airport where you can find a taxi waiting, or you can talk to someone at a customer service desk and they will call one for you. A taxi is a good option if you are looking to get into the heart of the city of London or another nearby location.

You can also use a car hire, whether you just want a vehicle that you plan to drive yourself or you want to hire a personal driver. Heathrow has 8 different car rental companies in its building, all of which are represented in each of the five terminals. You can arrange to have a rental car ahead of time or you can make arrangements when you arrive in the airport. Most of the companies allow you to drop off your car at any of their locations across England, so if you aren't going to be returning to Heathrow Airport you can still make good use of a car hire. The companies that service Heathrow Airport include Europcar, Alamo, National, Sixt, Hertz, Season Car Hire, Avis, Budget, and Enterprise.

Finally, another option for getting to and from Heathrow Airport is to take the underground on the Piccadilly Line. This is a good option for people looking to get to some of the major locations in London. If you have a lot of luggage it can be inconvenient, but if you're traveling light or looking to save money the underground can be a good way to go.
