About Gulfport Biloxi International Airport

Gulfport Biloxi International AirportThe Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is located in the second largest metropolitan area in the state of Mississippi, on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Airport is just over 80 miles from New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Airport is currently served by five commercial airlines, with service to seven major cities. Amenities include free wi-fi, computer work stations, meeting rooms, dining, two hotels, Smarte Cartes for rent, Skycaps, exhibits of local art, a newsstand, and a filtered smoking room located past the security area.

The original airfield was constructed in 1942 to train crews for WWII and has provided passenger and cargo service for the Mississippi Gulf Coast area since the early 1950's.

Hurricane Katrina damaged or destroyed many of the airport facilities. Since the expansion and modernization of the terminal was completed in 2008 the Airport has gone from one million to 2.4 million annual passengers. A new Air Traffic Control Tower is scheduled to open in 2012. The Airport has a 46,000 sq. ft. domestic and international air cargo facility and 170 acres available for expansion of the passenger terminal complex.
