Airlines Serving Edmonton International Airport

The Canadian budget airline WestJet has the largest presence of any airline at Edmonton International Airport. WestJet, which is Canada's second-largest air carrier, is the only airline that uses both the north and south terminals of Edmonton's Airport. The airport serves as one of the airline's largest and most important focus cities with a total of 27 non stop flights serviced from Edmonton. Year-round WestJet destinations serviced from Edmonton include Abbotsford, Cancun, Las Vegas, Regina, Vancouver and Winnipeg. Seasonal destinations include Halifax, Orlando, Ottawa, Palm Springs and Phoenix. People enjoy flying from Edmonton using WestJet because of the airline's commitment to value, but they also love the fact that the airline makes travel so convenient from the city.

With greater than 50% of the market share, WestJet is Edmonton International Airport's largest carrier. As such, most of the people who use the airport fly on a WestJet plane. To reward its customers with a pleasant experience, WestJet offers a lounge at the airport where passengers can enjoy comfortable seating, snacks, beverages, meals and Internet access.

Air Canada is the largest airline in Canada, and it has the second-largest presence at Edmonton International Airport. Together with Air Canada Express, the airline serves a total of 12 destinations from the airport. Air Canada is the country's so-called flag carrier airline because it displays the maple leaf of the Canadian flag in its logo and on the planes in its fleet. Air Canada uses the airport's south terminal.

Some airlines have only a minor presence at the airport, but they are still very important. For example, US Airways provides service to only one destination – Phoenix, Arizona, but it offers terrific service for those who travel to the American Southwest. Likewise, Air Transat only offers seasonal service to tropical destinations in the Caribbean. Although these flights are only offered during parts of the year, passengers are pleased that they can reach their destinations using Air Transat from Edmonton.

Although the north terminal of Edmonton International Airport is dominated by WestJet, it sees action from some other airlines, as well. These carriers include the aforementioned Air Transat, and Central Mountain Air which serves cities like Calgary, High Level and Rainbow Lake. All other airlines use the airport's newer south terminal. This includes airlines like Air Canada, United Airlines, Canadian North and Northwestern Air. These carriers tend to serve domestic destinations, but some of them offer flights to destinations in the United States, as well.
