Airlines Serving Detroit Metro Airport

More than 30 million passengers use Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) every year. With six runways and 145 passenger gates, DTW is an extremely busy airport. It manages about 160 non-stop flights per day. By far, the busiest airline with the most flights and passengers is Delta Airlines. DTW is Delta's second busiest United States hub after Atlanta. Delta and its partners offer daily flights to/from more than 40 U.S. cities and a dozen international destinations.

In addition, Southwest Airlines offers eight major non-stop flights including Atlanta, Baltimore, and Las Vegas. It also flies to Atlanta and Orlando in conjunction with AirTran. U.S. Airways and its partners, U.S. Express, Air Wisconsin, Mesa, and Republic, combine to offer flights to Charlotte, Philadelphia and Pheonix as well as Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.

Miami and Dallas/Fort Worth are served by American Eagle. New York's LaGuardia Airport and Chicago's O'Hare Airport are served by American Eagle Express. Houston International Airport, Newark/New York Airport, Washington's Dulles Airport, Denver, and Chicago are served by United Airlines and its partners: ExpressJet, GoJet, SkyWest, Shuttle America and TransStates Airlines.

Delta serves many destinations including most major U.S. cities, many Florida beach destinations and Detroit's Midwestern neighbors. Delta Connection flights are operated by Compass Airlines, ExpressJet, GoJet, Shuttle America, Chautauqua Airlines, and Skywest. These serve smaller airports all over the region and the United States.

Delta uses DTW as its primary Asian gateway. Asian destinations include Nagoya and Tokoyo in Japan; Beijing and Shanghai in China; Manilla in the Phillipines; and Seoul, Korea. Delta's direct European flights from DTW include Frankfurt, Germany; Amsterdam, The Netherlands; London, England; and Paris, France, Although Delta flies regularly to Sao Paolo, Brazil, and Mexico City, Mexico, its other Latin American destinations are seasonal flights only.

Other international providers include Lufthansa, which makes regular flights from Frankfurt, Germany, and Air France, which makes regular flights to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France. Air Canada Express, partnering with Air Georgian and Jazz Air, links Toronto's Pearson Airport to Detroit. Linking Detroit to the Middle East, Royal Jordanian Airline serves Amman-Queen Alia Airport in Jordan.

DTW is also a base for Spirit Airlines. It offers flights to vacation destinations including many important U.S. cities, major Florida beach towns, and Cancun, Mexico. Apple Vacations/Air Tran Airways offers seasonal flights to Cancun, Montego Bay, and Punta Cana.
