Dallas Information

As the 9th largest city in America and the 3rd largest city in Texas, Dallas is a great place to visit. There are a wide variety of activities and sights to see to ensure that you will not have a moment of boredom. As far as climate goes, there really is not a bad time of year to visit, as it is usually comfortably warm to very hot. If you are not a fan of extreme heat though, you may not want to plan a trip during the summer months.

Founded in the 1850's, Dallas is known for its commerce, banking, and technology industries, but it is perhaps most well known for its oil industries. You will also notice the striking skyline and impressive architecture. If you are an architecture fan you will notice the modern skyscrapers such as Reunion Tower, the JFK memorial, and City Hall. You might want to start your explorations in one of the many unique neighborhoods such as Downtown's West End historic district or Arts district. The Farmers Market and City Center business district are also part of downtown. If you are looking for more of an artsy bohemian feel be sure to visit Deep Ellum in East Dallas. This is a very trendy area home to a lot of shops, restaurants, and a great place to people watch. Another artsy area that has recently undergone revitalization is the area of Oak Cliff located just south of downtown. The Bishop Arts District is located here and is home to some unique art galleries. If you are looking for some high-end shopping, travel to North Dallas, which is home to some great malls such as the Galleria and North Park. You will also see where the wealthiest inhabitants live and be able to view some spectacular homes.

If you want to experience eclectic cuisine, Dallas doesn't disappoint. Not only will you find authentic Tex-Mex but you will also find some amazing Barbeque. While Dallas has many chain restaurants that you can visit, some of the most authentic foods will be found off the beaten path. If you notice a Mexican restaurant located in the corner of a strip mall, you can be sure that you will probably find some of the best most authentic Mexican food around.

Whether your travels to Dallas, TX are for business or pleasure you will find that you don't ever run out of things to do. From shopping and dining, to nightlife and sightseeing this is a city sure to excite.
