Airlines Serving Chicago Midway International Airport

Southwest Airlines, which is the largest budget airline carrier in the United States, is the most dominant airline presence at Chicago Midway International Airport. The airline, which is based in Dallas, Texas, uses several focus cities, but Chicago Midway is its largest. Southwest has been operating at the airport since 1985, and it is expected that the airline will continue to use Midway as its dominant focus city airport.

Southwest is partnered with AirTran Airways, and the two airlines control a stunning 34 of Midway Airport's 43 total gates. When taken together, the two airlines are responsible for approximately 250 departures each day from the airport. Additionally, the airlines offer non-stop service to a total of 60 destinations from Chicago Midway International Airport. These destinations include Albuquerque, Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Los Angeles, New York – LaGuardia, Omaha, St. Louis, San Francisco, Washington – Dulles and many more. These flights are handled by the airport's concourse A, primarily, but many of the flights are reached from concourse B.

Although Southwest and its partner AirTran are dominant at Midway Airport, a number of other airlines use the facility. Delta Airlines, which uses concourse A, is a popular carrier at the airport, and it offers service to Atlanta, Georgia. Delta Connection offers even more travel opportunities. Compass Airlines and Skywest Airlines offer Delta Connection flights from Midway to Minneapolis/St. Paul, while Pinnacle Airlines offers Delta Connection flights to Minneapolis/St. Paul in addition to Detroit, Michigan. Frontier Airlines, which is the only commercial carrier to use Midway's concourse C, offers service to the popular Denver, Colorado airport.

People flying from Chicago are often engaged in international travel. Midway Airport offers travelers service to some wonderful international destinations through AirTran Airways, Porter Airlines and Volaris. AirTran offers non-stop service to the popular vacation destination of Cancun, Mexico. This service is offered through the airport's concourse A. Porter Airlines is a Canadian regional airline, and it offers service from Midway Airport to its home base of Billy Bishop Airport in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Volaris, which is the second-largest airline in Mexico, offers service from Chicago Midway to the destinations of Guadalajara, Leon/El Bajio, Morelia, Mexico City, and Zacatecas, all of which are in Mexico. These flights depart from concourse A.

Midway Airport also offers charter plane service. Lakeshore Express, which is operated by Pentastar Aviation, offers charter flights to Pellston Regional Airport in Pellston, Michigan. Ultimate Air Shuttle offers service to Cincinnati – Lunken airport.
