Boise Airport Information

Located only several miles away from Downtown Boise, the Boise Airport serves Idaho's largest city and the surrounding region. Serving nearly 3 million passengers per year, Boise Airport is by far the busiest airport in the state. Boise Airport is also home to the Gowen Field Air National Guard Base, a major military air force complex that is used by the Idaho Air National Guard.

In fact, the airport's military history goes back to World War II, when more than 6,000 U.S. troops were stationed at the base. In the late 1930's, the airport also boasted the longest runway in the country, spanning more than 8,800 feet. Boise Airport passengers who have extra time may want to explore the Idaho Military Museum at the nearby National Guard base. The museum offers a fun family friendly experience that tells the rich history of the United States military, particularly the air force branch.

A single terminal consisting of three levels is the main facility at Boise Airport. The single building layout makes it convenient and easy to navigate the terminal and access all essential services and facilities at the airport. Most of the food options at the airport are located on the second level of the terminal building. There is a food court that features multiple casual and fast food options. Additionally, concourse B on the second level has some more food vendors. All of the shops at Boise Airport can also be found at the second floor level near concourse B. All of the food options and gift shops on the second level can only be accessed after passing the security checkpoints.

The first floor of the terminal building at Boise Airport is much smaller than the second level. The lower level is home to concourse C and some limited services. Passengers on the first floor who'd like to eat something or shop around will have to head upstairs for that. The third floor at the terminal building at Boise Airport is primarily used by administrative offices and other official authorities, so passengers can turn for help and assistance there.

Boise Airport offers plenty of on site parking options to accommodate many of the visitors that arrive by car. There is a short term and long term parking lot, and also a dedicated parking garage. All of these parking spaces are within walking distance from the main terminal building.
