Airport Hotel Service

Bangkok Don Muang Airport Ground Transportation

The newest airport build in Thailand has overshadowed Bangkok’s Don Muang Airport. However, this is still an important access hub to Bangkok. All forms of transportation are available between the two airports. Both bus and van services carry passengers from SuvarnabhumI to Don Muang Airport and the same services from SuvarnabhumI to Rangsit stops at the Don Muang Airport in transit. Shuttle buses also regularly carry passengers and luggage between the two airport terminals.

Many of the larger hotels provide limosine service directly to their entrance. Check outside the terminal for the ride provided by your hotel. Car rentals are also available, but prices vary greatly so do research before arriving and/or lease it in advance with your booking.

Just outside the main terminal taxi booths are available where visitors can hire a legal taxi meter. Downtown Bangkok hotels and other destinations cost between 200-250 baht. There is an airport surcharge of 50 baht. A toll charge of 30-40 baht additional will be added if the taxi must take a tollway.

Air-con buses are much less expensive than official airport buses, but during peak service hours, it is very likely that these will be fully occupied. They tend to be crowded and inconvenient for new visitors (especially with luggage.) Each bus takes passengers to different areas in Bangkok:
Route 04--Silom Road
Route 29--Victory Monument at Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong)
Route 10--Victory Monument to the Southern Region Bus Terminal
Route 13--Sukhumvit Road to the Eastern Region Bus Terminal

The regular bus lines also make easy access to different parts of the city available. Ask for a copy of Thaiways’ Map of Bangkok from the counter at the international arrival lounge, Thai Airways, Thai Hotel Association, or at the domestic departure lounge. This publication will help you get an idea of the desired bus destination. Some routes with the same number only travel part-way to the destination; check with the bus conductor before deciding to take that particular bus.
Route 29--Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong)
Route 59--The Emerald Buddha Temple (Sanam Luang)
Route 95--Ram Indra Road--Ramkhamhaeng Road

There is also train service from the airport to Bangkok. The Don Muang Station can be found opposite the Amari Airport Hotel across the highway. Every 30 or 60 minutes trains depart from the station (longr intervals on weekends.) They take about an hour to arrive at Hua Lamphong Central Station in Bangkok.
