Auckland Airport Ground Transportation

Auckland Airport has many options for travelers who need to get to the airport. This airport serves Auckland, New Zealand, and the surrounding area, and can be found between the cities of Auckland and Manukau. It is possible to drive one’s own vehicle to the Auckland Airport. From Auckland the drive will be 40 minutes; from Manukau it will be 20 minutes. From the center of the city of Auckland, it is best to take the southward highway and when you see the exit leading you to Gilles Avenue, take this route and look for the signs taking you to the airport. There is quite an extensive parking setup at the Auckland Airport if you have to leave your car in the parking area. Travelers can take advantage of the airport’s online parking booking system to minimize inconvenience.

Buses are one option for people who need to get to the airport. Travelers can catch the bus at the Mt. Eden train station in Auckland. The trip will take about 15 minutes between the airport and the city’s central business district. If you are coming from Manukau, you can board the bus at the Papatoetoe train station for a 30-minute ride to the airport. In both instances, tickets can be purchased on board from the driver.

There are several taxi and shuttle companies that are available to transport passengers to and from the airport. You can contact the taxi and shuttle companies individually to have them pick you up. They will take you to either the international or domestic terminals found at the arrival hall or the luggage area, respectively.

Rental cars are another choice for travelers. It is possible to contact the rental car companies directly to set up a rental arrangement. You can also arrange booking of a rental car online. Then you will simply be able to drive your rental car to the airport terminals or nearby region. International travelers will find they can take their cars to the area near the arrival hall. Domestic travelers can drop their cars off at the car services area on the first floor of the carpark.

Once inside the airport, travelers can take advantage of a bus that operates every 20 minutes transporting passengers between the international and domestic terminals. These buses can be boarded between 5:00am and 10:30pm every day. Should travelers decide to walk, they need only follow the walkway colored in blue and white. The walk between terminals takes 10 minutes.
