About Queen Alia International Airport Amman

Amman International AirportQueen Alia International Airport is Jordan's largest airport, situated in Zizya, about 20 miles south of the city of Amman. It is Jordan's major air transportation hub, and home of the national flag carrier, Royal Jordanian Airlines. The airport is named after Queen Alia, the third wife of King Hussein of Jordan, who died in 1977.

Built in 1983, the airport offers many amenities to make for a comfortable experience. Wi-fi internet is available throughout the facility via access cards that can be obtained at any of four World News Cafes. In addition to these cafes, there are several restaurants and bars in which to relax, including familiar favorites like Pizza Hut and Cinnabon. There is a lounge in each terminal for VIP passengers, as well as lounges for business class travelers and frequent flyers.

Each year, between 3 and 5 million people travel through the Queen Alia Airport, and there are plans for great expansion of the airport in the near future. The addition of a new terminal has enabled the airport to use the Airbus A380, the largest passenger airliner in the world.
